Undergraduate Minor: Assistive Technology (AT)

The minor in Assistive Technology provides undergraduate students with background knowledge in special education and assistive technology. Completing this minor may partially fulfill requiremtnts for licensure in special education in Virginia.

Coursework

Required Courses (8 credits) - Students will take the 3 courses listed below.

  • EDIT 410 Introduction to Assistive Technology (3 credits)
  • EDIT 423 Accessibility/Input Modification (2 credits)
  • EDUC 203 Human Disabilities in American Culture (3 credits)

Elective Courses (7 credits) - Students will take 7 credits from the following courses.

  • EDIT 412 Assistive Technology for Individuals with Sensory Impairments (2 credits)
  • EDIT 425 Software for Individuals with Special Needs (2credits)
  • EDIT 426 Web Accessibility and Design (3 credits)
  • EDIT 428 Low-Tech Assistive Technology Solutions (1 credit)
  • EDSE 422 Augmentative Communication (3 credits)
